A visit to Shri Kashi Vishwanath Mandir is not just a journey, it is a calling from Mahadev. Recently, when I traveled to Kashi, I experienced the divine darshan through the main streets, corridors, and sacred gates of Baba’s temple.
This guide is written exactly from that experience, so any devotee reading this can easily understand how to reach each gate and how the darshan flow works.
✨ My Journey Begins – From Nandi Circle
I began at the serene and sacred Nandi Circle, where a majestic statue of Nandi Maharaj sits facing the direction of the temple. The moment you reach here, you feel the presence of Lord Shiva.
From here, I walked straight toward Dashashwamedh Ghat Road — a vibrant, lively stretch filled with devotion, prasad shops, and the eternal sound of “Har Har Mahadev.”
🛕 Entering the Divine Path – Kashi Vishwanath Dwar
As you walk toward the end of Dashashwamedh Road, look to your left.
There, you will find a narrow sacred lane marked “Kashi Vishwanath Dwar”.
This lane leads directly into the ancient inner lanes of Vishwanath Gali.
Entering this lane is like stepping into time itself — small shops, chants, bells, and a timeless spiritual atmosphere.
Proceeding through this lane, you will reach:
➡️ GATE NO. 2 – Common Devotee Entry Gate
Gate 2 is one of the most frequently used entry points.
From Gate No. 2, you have two paths:
1️⃣ Route to Gate 1 (Main Darshan Entry)
From Gate 2, take a right turn and walk straight.
You will reach:
-
Ahilyabai Holkar Statue (who rebuilt the temple)
-
Bharat Mata Statue
-
Rear side of temple complex
From here, you can proceed directly to:
➡️ GATE NO. 1 – Main Darshan Gate
This is the primary gate used for:
-
General Darshan
-
Shringar Darshan
-
Rudrabhishek entry (as instructed by temple staff)
Most devotees enter through this gate to reach the inner sanctum and have darshan of the Vishweshwar Jyotirlinga.
2️⃣ Straight Route from Gate 2 – Towards Corridor & Other Gates
If you go straight from Gate No. 2, without turning right:
You enter into the grand Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, which connects the temple directly to the Ganga.
This route leads you to the other gates as well.
🔥 GATE NO. 3 – Ganga Corridor Gate (Ghats Side Entry/Exit)
Gate 3 is located toward the Ganga-facing side of the Corridor.
From here:
-
You can enter the corridor if coming from the ghats
-
You can exit toward the ghats after darshan
If you take this exit, you can easily reach:
-
Manikarnika Ghat (toward the right)
-
Lalita Ghat (toward the left)
-
Ganga Mata Darshan by simply walking straight
-
Boats to Dashashwamedh Ghat Aarti
This gate is perfect for pilgrims who come by:
-
Boat
-
Ganga snan
-
Group yatras
🌙 GATE NO. 4 – VIP / Special Darshan / Security Gate
Located on another side of the corridor, Gate 4 is used for:
-
VIP entry
-
Special pass holders
-
Emergency services
-
Temple administration
This gate is not usually used by general devotees unless instructed.
🕉️ Internal Movement Inside the Corridor
Once inside the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, the movement is simple:
Gate 2 → Corridor → Gate 1 (Darshan) → Sanctum → Gate 3 (Ghats exit)
OR
Gate 2 → Corridor → Gate 4 (Administration / Special purpose)
The wide corridor offers:
-
Sculptures of Shiva Leela
-
Huge open courtyards
-
Resting areas
-
Drinking water points
-
A calm spiritual atmosphere
🔥 Manikarnika Ghat – The Sacred Exit of Liberation
After darshan, if you exit through the ghat-side gates (Gate 3), you naturally walk toward:
🔥 Manikarnika Ghat
Here, life’s truth unfolds silently.
The ghat is believed to grant moksha, and every moment here feels divine.
Visitors often:
-
Sit for meditation
-
Offer prayers for ancestors
-
Feel the deep energy of Kashi’s eternal flame
🌼 Tips for Devotees
✔ Early morning darshan is peaceful
✔ Keep minimal belongings
✔ Buy prasad from temple-authorized shops
✔ Follow queue lines strictly
✔ Take the ghat exit to enjoy the spiritual beauty of the river
